«Black stared, wide-eyed, at the dark underside of the desk as he listened to the relentless pounding of metal on metal. The telecomm was still recording. He was struggling to speak what he knew he must say. The gunfire increased. It was all part of the background noise that would be the orchestra´s grand finale to his life, and with so much still left that he wanted to accomplish. However, suddenly, there was a new instrument playing in this ensemble as the sound of a different caliber gun rang out from the other room.»
«Retaliation» delivers a 71-minute, 13-track journey that expertly fuses synthpop, futurepop and progressive trance into a cohesive technopop experience. The record wraps its profound, emotionally charged core in the band's trademark bleak, sci-fi atmosphere. Tracks like «We'll Jump Together», «The Agency of Agony», and the title track anchor the album with layered cybernetic textures, memorable hooks, and pulsing rhythms. Ultimately, it is an intricate, atmospheric masterpiece built for deep, attentive listening rather than casual playback. Stefan Poiss still do his best in form-shifting vocals and multilayer production, together with sad vocoders and happy synths.
