Marilyn Manson |
Marilyn Manson’s anticipated reunion with longtime friend and foil Twiggy Ramirez inches closer with the release of «We're From America», the first listen from the forthcoming «The High End of Low». Available as a free download since March 27th, exclusively on official Marilyn Manson web site, the song will be available as a digital single on April 7th and will preview Manson’s forthcoming seventh studio album landing May 26th. Produced by Manson, Vrenna and Twiggy, «The High End of Low» was recorded in his Hollywood Hills studio and also features the track, «I Want to Kill You Like They Do In The Movies.» Manson says of the new album, «I think my life definitely ended and began. The record sounds very final, but it's almost optimistic - though that feels like a strange word to use. It's a phoenix from the fire and a redemption resurrection.»
The album’s official first single «Arma… geddon» will arrive at radio April 13th. Manson’s new lineup including Ramirez (for the first time in close to a decade), plus keyboardist Chris Vrenna, and drummer Ginger Fish, will close the main stage at the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, this July through August. Manson will also kick off his world tour with a headline festival run this June in Europe.

[ 30.03.2009 ] - Spandau Ballet are back with Reformation TourSpandau Ballet |
One the most successful and influential British bands of all time return this year. All five original members of the seminal 1980s band Spandau Ballet got together for the first time in 20 years today to announce the first dates of a world tour, taking in UK and Ireland's arenas from October.
Tony Hadley, John Keeble, Gary Kemp, Martin Kemp and Steve Norman made the announcement aboard the HMS Belfast, the world famous British battleship on the banks of the River Thames and the scene of a legendary and notorious Spandau gig in 1979, from which they first set off on their global adventures.
Only London’s in-crowd supposedly knew where the show was back then, but 1000s more turned up, even rowing from the Tower of London to try to board the ship.
They blew the electrics and their travelling retinue of London fashionistas and freaks brought debauchery to the historic naval vessel.
From their synth pop and dance pioneering early singles «To Cut A Long Story Short» and «Chant No. 1 (I Don’t Need This Pressure On)», to the globe trotting smashes «True and Gold», Spandau will be playing the hits once again. With 25 million record sales, 6 multi platinum albums and 23 hit singles to choose from, this is one of the most eagerly awaited reformations of the decade.
Emerging from Soho’s ultra hip Blitz Club in 1979 during another economic depression, Spandau formed at school in North London before becoming the hottest unsigned band on the planet. From underground, fashion and music obsessed working class Londoners, to global superstars, the band set the pace, the styles and the sound of the 1980s.
Not only did their albums sell by the millions, but their look and style impacted on the fashion world and beyond. They created their own style, combining creativity with entrepreneurship and the ‘can do’ spirit of early 80s youth at a time of crisis and upheaval eerily reminiscent of 2009. Spandau Ballet are both commercially and culturally enormous.
Today, they set sail form HMS Belfast once again, armed with another ticket to the world.

[ 17.03.2009 ] - «Das Beste von DAF – 20 Lieder der Deutsch Amerikanischen Freundschaft»«Das Beste von DAF» |
30 years after the release of their debut album, «Ein Produkt der Deutsch-Amerikanischen Freundschaft» (reissued in 2000 on The Grey Area of Mute) Düsseldorf's notorious DAF release «Das Beste von DAF – 20 Lieder der Deutsch Amerikanischen Freundschaft», a new Best Of compilation album on March 30th, 2009 via The Grey Area of Mute. DAF's 1980 album, «Die Kleinen Und Die Bösen», Mute’s first ever album release, featured Robert Görl, Gabi Delgado-Lopez, Chrislo Haas and Wolfgang Spelmans. Following the departure of Haas and Spelmans, the core members of drummer, composer and programmer Robert Görl, and vocalist, lyricist and strategist Gabi Delgado-Lopez continued as a duo and signed to Virgin. It was at this time that DAF released their 3 most commercially successful albums within an 18 month period, «Alles Ist Gut», «Gold Und Liebe» and «Für Immer». Though operative for only a short time, the DAF sex machine was extraordinarily productive and its impact on electronic music is deep and lasting. In a whirlwind 18 months they released this trilogy of best selling albums whilst pushing the boundaries of experimental and dance music. Robert Görl and Gabi Delgado-Lopez briefly got back together in 1985 for «1st Step to Heaven» and again in 2003 for «Fünfzehn neue D.A.F-Lieder».
While British electronic pop pioneers were still mired in alienation or camp futurism, DAF presciently combined disco and electronics in a new, distinctive variant of the electro scene which was then current in groundbreaking New York clubs. Either leathered up or stripped to the waist and glistening with sweat, DAF looked as they sounded, all pumping muscle and sinew, the very physicality of their music upturning the then current cliché that equated electronics and alienation. DAF were the precursors of the Electronic Body Musics of Die Krupps and Nitzer Ebb, while their musical reductionism gave techno minimalists the courage to pare music back to beats and atmospheres.
