Depeche Mode Convention Of The Universe 2009

Depeche Mode have been mystifying the world of music again and again. They are considered pop-sphinx with multifarious synthie sound and dominating visual esthetics. In the course of their career, they've experienced all kinds of excesses. And it is really incredible how devoted and loyal their fans still are. With more than 100 million sold records and over 12 million sold concert tickets they are now breaking records in rock-historical dimensions, always reinventing themselves. Within the last 3 decades of their marvelous career, their performances have been evolving into festivals of collective euphoria and unconditionally devotion. As already implied in the title of their coming stadium concert series Tour of the Universe, Depeche Mode are going to tour the whole world (i.e. Universe) in 2009. The most subversive electronic pop band is going to present their most ambitious live project to date. Among several other dates also on June 10th at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. The city is expecting tens of thousands of Depeche Mode fans from all over the world.

On June 9th lot of Depeche Mode fans from all over the world are going to meet up at the Fritzclub at Postbahnhof in Berlin to celebrate their heroes. The band will have a one-day break on this particular day. The highlight of this convention will be the concerts of Nitzer Ebb and De/Vision, who are household name for Depeche Mode fans from all over the globe. Also there will be one more special guest: Frozen Plasma.

Live acts

Nitzer Ebb (UK/USA)

Together with Front 242, Brits Nitzer Ebb are being mentioned as forerunner of aggressive-rhythmic, electronic dance music, which has been known as EBM (Electronic Body Music) ever since. In the case of Nitzer Ebb it all started in the year 1982, when Chelmsford-Essex boys Bon Harris, David Gooday and Douglas McCarthy got together to mix brute sequenzer beats and scary shouting-vocals. A successful Nitzer Ebb career ensued, resulting in supporting their label-mates Depeche Mode on two concert tours. Certainly one of the very few Depeche Mode supporting acts, cheered on by Depeche Mode fans. Thenceforth it has been a friendship of long standing for both bands.

De/Vision (Germany)

Being one of the leading representatives of its musical genre for more than 20 years, the electronic duo, Steffen Keth and Thomas Adam of De/Vision, does not need to be introduced to the gentle pop consumer. After all those years they genuinely reinvented themselves, defining the limits of feasibility, giving the idea of «crossover» new and exciting contents. Unfortunately the breaking up of a once so securely established band during their brave experimental phase, is likely also be part of their turbulent history. The permanent openness for new influences and means of expressions is, without a doubt, a basic constant of the bands concept for success.

Frozen Plasma (Greece / Germany)

After the split of his very successful band NamNamBulu Vasi Vallis presents his follow-up project Frozen Plasma with a fantastic new singer Felix Marc (producer/keyboarder/backing vocals for Diorama).

DJs

6 DJs on 3 floors in total will be the musical framework program of this convention, with Depeche Mode being the focus of interest of course. In addition to two of the most famous DJs of the scene in Germany, Niggels and Elvis Rahidi we are proudly presenting the DJs Peter² and Amigo of HOME, one of the most famous Depeche Mode-websites in the Internet. Topping it all off Berlins scene DJs Sinner and Spincup will be presenting an excellent mix of indie and electro on the 3rd floor.
