[ 22.04.2009 ] - «Wait For Me» - new Moby album

Moby
Moby

Moby is preparing to release «Wait For Me», his 9th full-length studio album on June 30th, 2009 via Mute.

Moby started working on the album about a year ago, and the creative impetus behind the record was hearing a David Lynch speech at Bafta in the UK. David was talking about creativity, and to paraphrase, about how creativity in and of itself, and without market pressures, is fine and good. It seems as if too often an artists or musicians or writers creative output is judged by how well it accommodates the marketplace, and how much market share it commands and how much money it generates.

In making this record Moby wanted to focus on making something that he loved, without really being concerned about how it might be received by the marketplace. As a result it's a quieter and more melodic and more mournful and more personal record than some of the records he has made in the past.

It's also, for better or worse, all homemade, he recorded it at home with his friends and drew the artwork with a black sharpie on copy paper. Moby mixed the record with his friend amazing mixer/producer Ken Thomas (Sigur Ros / Throbbing Gristle / M83) with purely analog equipment in true stereo.

The first single is called «Shot In The Back Of The Head» and available from official Moby web site for free, accompanied by a suitably dark animated video from David Lynch.

[ 22.04.2009 ] - Second solo album from Dolores O’Riordan

«No Baggage»
«No Baggage»

Dolores O’Riordan, songstress and critically acclaimed voice of The Cranberries, has announced that she will be releasing her second solo album «No Baggage» (cat. no.: COOKCD496) on August 24th via Cooking Vinyl.

Co-produced by Ontario-based Dan Brodbeck, the album sees O’Riordan exploring many emotive subjects. «I probably haven’t worn my heart on my sleeve like this since the second Cranberries album [[«No Need to Argue» (1994)]],» she says. «It’s at times very confessional and dealing with my true emotions. Everyone, through their experiences or their background, has had terrible moments where they think they can’t handle it. With this record I’m trying to show that, no matter how bad things may seem, it’s not really that bad in the big picture.»

Looking forward and backwards – sometimes simultaneously – is one of the new album’s primary themes, as evidenced on tracks such as the quasi-Beatlesque «Fly Through» and its yearning for unambiguous solutions, the bittersweet nostalgia of the insinuatingly catchy «It’s You», and the blunt, seemingly self-critical «Stupid». «Skeleton», meanwhile, takes its title not just from the physical structure at each person’s core but also from the all-too-common «skeletons in the closet» that we all have. «Throw Your Arms Around Me», with its Indian-styled instrumentation and structure is a song that O’Riordan is clearly proud of. «That song’s really about how there are two kinds of people: those who are believers and have faith, and those who scoff at such things,» she says. «It has a kind of mysterious sound to it, unpredictable; it doesn’t sound anything like normal.»

Available on CD and as a Digital Download, the album’s full tracklisting is as follows:

[01] Switch Off The Moment 3:18
[02] Skeleton 3:24
[03] It's You 4:11
[04] The Journey 3:52
[05] Stupid 4:45
[06] Be Careful 4:20
[07] Apple Of My Eye 4:47
[08] Throw Your Arms Around Me 4:26
[09] Fly Through 3:54
[10] Lunatic 4:28
[11] Tranquilizer 3:51

Since leaving The Cranberries, who sold more than 40 million albums worldwide, O’Riordan has been splitting her time between Dublin and Ontario, Canada. Her interests in life extend far beyond her musical abilities; she is a devoted wife and mother to four beautiful children, and is also a gifted visual artist.

[ 21.04.2009 ] - U2 360 Tour

U2 360 Tour
U2 360 Tour

U2 360 Tour will open at the Nou Camp Stadium in Barcelona on June 30th. The U2 360 Tour is sponsored by BlackBerry® and band's first stadium outing since the Vertigo Tour 05/06 and follows the release of their acclaimed album, «No Line On The Horizon». Their 12th studio album, «No Line On The Horizon» is already Number 1 in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Belgium, Finland, Japan and the Czech Republic.

Produced by Live Nation Global Touring, U2 360 Tour will visit 14 cities across Europe including dates in Milan, Gothenburg, Amsterdam, Paris, Nice, Dublin, Chorzow, Berlin, Gelsenkirchen, London, Sheffield and Glasgow before finishing at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on August 22nd. The European tour will be followed by dates in North America beginning at Chicago's Soldier Field on September 12th, 2009.

Long-time U2 Show Director Willie Williams has worked again with architect Mark Fisher (ZooTV, PopMart, Elevation and Vertigo), to create an innovative 360 design which affords an unobstructed view for the audience. U2 360 also marks the first time a band has toured in stadiums with such a unique and original structure.

«U2 has always been at their best when surrounded by their audience, this staging takes a giant leap forward. With 85 percent of the tickets priced at less than $95.00, general admission floor tickets priced at $55.00 and at least 10,000 tickets at every venue priced at the $30.00 price range, we have worked very hard to ensure that U2 fans can purchase a great priced ticket with a guaranteed great view,» says U2's manager Paul McGuinness.

Arthur Fogel, Chief Executive Officer Global Touring/Chairman - Global Music Live Nation commented: «Following the overwhelming worldwide success of the Vertigo tour where every available ticket was sold, there is tremendous anticipation for this tour and to experience this revolutionary production. As usual fans will not be disappointed.»

Commenting on the new relationship between U2 and BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion (RIM), Paul McGuinness added: «This tour announcement marks the first stage of a relationship and shared vision between RIM and U2 that we expect will lead to new and innovative ways to enhance the mobile music experience on the BlackBerry platform for U2 fans. We look forward to sharing more details as the relationship unfolds.»

In keeping with their long-standing tradition, U2 will welcome a number of different support acts to the tour including Glasvegas, Elbow, Kaiser Chiefs, Snow Patrol and Black Eyed Peas with additional artists to be announced.
