It was the first time when we saw U2 live. After 20 years of being in love with their great music, after thousands hours of listening CDs and watching DVDs, the only wish was to see how it happens in real. And thanks to God, Live Nation and of course SAV Entertainment, we put our boots on Stadio Olimpico in Turin, Italy, where our long time favorites just started European leg of their 360° Tour. Band was arriving on stage during new instrumental intro track «Return of the Stingray Guitar». Bono made a circle around huge 360° stage, shouting «Torino, Torino!» Crowd was immediately mad, and it goes through all 24 tracks from opening «Beautiful Day» to the closing «Moment of Surrender», more than two magic hours of U2 performance.
Need to say, Bono was in fine form and seems fully recovered from the back injury which last year postponed big portion of U2 concerts in America. By the way, Bono said «thank you» for all the love and letters which were sent to him in recent months. As always band presented songs from various periods of their career, the band also debuted two new songs: driving up-tempo rock song «Glastonbury», inspired by the famous UK Summer Festival, and an acoustic version of slow ballad «North Star», with a very romantic chorus. In addition to the new songs, the set featured tour debuts: «Miss Sarajevo» (Bono sang it in Italian!), «Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me» and a snippet of «Discotheque» inside of «I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight». After «Mysterious Ways» Bono informed public about special occasion that night - Edge's Birthday (he turns 49 on Sunday)! And 40 000 Italians sang «Happy Birthday to Edge!» As we already said it was our first U2 gig, so we can't really describe how we feel, 'cos we are still full of incredible emotions, but surely it's one of the most amazing performances we ever seen! Powerful show, unbelievable stage construction, big and very enthusiastic crowd. And we even felt tears of joy in our eyes while Bono singing «Sunday Bloody Sunday», that was really strong emotion! So thank you guys! Grazie ragazzi! Bravissimi! Spasibo!!! Now we can say: U2 are back on the road, and soon they will come to Moscow with amazing 360° show that nobody can miss! See you all on August 25th in «Luzhnki»! ps Turin Setlist: [01] Return of the Stingray Guitar Encore 1 [20] One Encore 2 [22] Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me nb U2 - Live at «Stadio Olimpico» (Turin, Italy 06.08.2010) - our photos SHOUT!
